What do you give the nephew that- thanks to a few thousand mile, a large sea, and the entire Atlantic ocean- you have never had the chance to see face to face? I have no clue either. So, this is my "cross my fingers and hope hope hope he likes it" gift. He's three. He lives in Texas. He likes matchbox cars. He has a crazy Aunt Tuppy. A camping play set in felt seemed like the obvious choice.
Remember that lunchbox I made from way back when? I had spent months trying to figure out how to make it machine washable and pack flat without loosing its sturdiness. Then I gave up and stuck it on my shelf knowing that someday, somehow, it will be perfect for someone. Oh little nephew, that someone is you!
The lunchbox is now a camping world play set carrying case, that unfolds to reveal this little man out in the woods.

He has a fishing pole and little boat he uses to catch his dinner. Safety-first: he is always sure to wear his life jacket when out on the water.
He is not sleeping yet. If he were, he would be in the tent and his fire would be safely out. For now, he is just content gazing up at the stars and enjoying the sweet smell of the pine trees.
I hope the little tike likes it.
