I have a secret.

I can't knit. Or crochet.

I tried knitting once but I literally tied my fingers to the project, poked myself in the eye, and in the end the whole thing just came unraveled anyway. Crochet was a bit better. I managed to make "Christmas tree ornament wreath things" in seventh grade home-ec. Everything else was beyond my capabilities. Oh, I fully admit I wistfully look at the balls of yarn in the shops and imagine all the cute, creative, clever things I will never make out of them.

I love it. I appreciate it. I just can't do it. I fully respect and am in awe of those women who just sit down and click click click a whole sweater out of nothing more than a pair of chopsticks and a string. And yes, I admit, I am very very very jealous of their talent.

Not knitting means my poor daughter is not, and never has been, exposed to scarves, sweaters, ear muffs, and those little beanie hats with the ear flaps and pom-poms on top. So when she put this outfit in her "must have" pile for back to school, I was shocked. Shocked in a good way.

Yes, she had to have a knit sweater and a matching knit circle skirt. Knitted! And the colors! The flowers! Oh, sweet yarn-y flowers!

We bought them at Didi (her favorite designer), in case you want to know where to get some for yourself. Yes, yourself- they make them in grown-up sizes as well. Only she wouldn't let me have a matching outfit because, according to her 10 year old wisdom, she and I should never ever EVER EVER wear matching outfits.

She would just *die*.

So where is the picture of her wearing this outfit? I think it is insanely adorable, but I can't imagine it in a miniature size. My brain is only seeing that as an adult outfit. Or maybe a picture of a preteen model wearing this? I think this is really necessary!

She won't model it for me until I buy her some shoes to go with it. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, eh?
