This is the coolest diaper bag. Ever.

Ok, perhaps I should show some bit of modesty concerning this bag. But, then, I am awfully proud of it. I didn't just use cuter fabric on someone else's pattern. Oh, no. This little number is my own baby (pun intended). It is a diaper clutch with built in changing mat. It's features are:
  • Fully washable. In the machine. On a regular cycle. No spot wash, no delicate cycle, no hand washing or dry clean only, no laundry bags. I mean, you can use all those things, but you don't have to. And you can toss it in the dryer (just be sure to press it with an iron set to the steam setting afterward).
  • It can be opened and closed with one hand. I am a righty and my husband is a lefty. We tested it by doing it ourselves while holding a cushion (our "test baby" for the trial run) using our least-favorite hand (I did mine with the left, and he used his right). We still easily opened and closed it, in just a few seconds, without having to put down the baby.
  • There is no scratchy velcro. Anywhere.
  • The purse part is expandable. You use the lower button for fastening when it is less full, and the upper button when it is crammed full. It holds two of those big, huge, all-in-one cloth diapers (size large) AND wipes. Heck, you should also be able to toss in your wallet and keys and use it as a hand bag so you don't have to lug that around with you as well.
  • The mat has a "gap" at the bag when folded. This way you can wrap your cloth diaper in your normal "dirty diaper sack" and slide it right on it. It will be held in place securely, but away from the clean diapers and your wallet and keys. Believe me, one good poke from your keys and that "dirty diaper sack" fails. Big time. Plus I think it's icky to mix clean with the dirty.
  • If it is one of those really, messy, "Oh my goodness child what did they feed you?!?!?" kind of moments, the mess on the mat wipes off then folds inside- keeping it isolated until you have a chance to get home and dump it in the wash.

Shown here in: half-full, full, and changing mat positions

To show you how easy it is, watch me fold it up, with just using my left hand.....

Step One: fold the top section over along fold line. Fold again along second line. In essence, you are folding the mat into thirds.

Step Two: pull up on the purse handle.

Step Three: keep pulling the purse handle. It will self-fold in thirds (again), with the purse part on top.

Step Four: flip it over. Attach the magnet on the tab to the magnet on the mat.

Step Five: if you have a dirty diaper to transport, slip it in between the mat and purse now. Attach the magnet on the mat to the magnet on the purse bottom. Done!

So, how do you get one for yourself?

Do it yourself..... Over the next few days I will be posting a two-part, free tutorial on how to make this bag yourself.

Do it momfetti..... Over the next few days, information on how to order one will be available. This bag will not be a regular item in my shop. Only you- my friends, family, and faithful readers- will be able to purchase one. Picking fabric will be an additional perk, since I like you so much.

Do it by luck..... In addition to the "how to order information," there will be additional info on how you can win the diaper clutch featured in the tutorials. That's right! There will be a give-away very soon!
