Isn't it lovely? I tried out a new company called Volksfaden. They are out of Germany and sell mainly American and Japanese fabrics.Their terms and conditions say they cut within 2 days, and it is up to 2 weeks for delivery. Sure enough, they cut my order within 2 days and sent me an email to let me know they were finished and my package was out the door. About a week later it was received and the postmark was for the same day I got the email- the actual day of posting. It is a pet peeve of mine when companies say they shipped, something when really all they have done was put it in the in-house mail bag. It's nice to know that Volksfaden ships when it really does ship.
When the package arrived, the fabric had been neatly cut. Even though I ordered 3 pieces in 1, 2, and 3 meter lengths, they were folded to identical size and very tidy. There was one thin plastic envelope around all three pieces to keep them clean and dry, and everything was tucked neatly in a plain kraft box. That was it. So about 95% of the packaging materials could be recycled. Gets the green thumbs up from me.
I got a hand written thank you tab on the front, and the invoice/packing slip. The outside of the package was neat and tidy and looked very professional, yet very pretty. I certainly didn't feel like I was getting some porn delivered- as is often the case when you get those mystery plain brown boxes in the mail.
I know I will be ordering from them again!
As for the fabric.... last night it all passed through the washer and dryer to preshrink and remove any manufacturing sizing. Today it is going to be cut and sewn into aprons with a huge flounce at the bottom. I can hardly wait.
